Dr. Hickey received both his M.Sc and Ph.D. from York University where he specialized in the foraging and thermoregulatory behaviour of red and hoary bats in southern Ontario. His bat research has brought him to Zimbabwe, the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico and Ontario, Canada. While Brian is well known for his bat research, he has studied a wide range of taxa including birds, fish, reptiles, and invertebrates. (source: River Institute, Cornwall)

Join us to learn about these important creatures of Springfield Farm’s environmental oasis. Bat nets will be placed strategically to assist Dr. Hickey with his Catch and Release programme documenting the regions bat population. A talk will take place around 8pm and then guests will await the bats while enjoying artisanal pizza and refreshments.
